well its still fresh, so get a hold of some carpet stain remover if possible, soak it and , scrub scrub scrub.

Can you just use nail polish remover?! =)
nail polish remover. can you trim the carpet with some scissors a little? i guess that wouldn't work if its a big stain, but if it was just a little droplette of polish then it would work.
