try taking a comb,after it dries and combing it out! dont use nail polish remover,it might eat the carpet up or bleach it out!or maybe cut it out unless its alot!then if its alot try throwing a rug over it!

Prior to the acetone (nail polish remover), hold an ice cube to it. If the nail polish is dry, it might help to make it more brittle and you can chip off as much as possible before applying the acetone.
My husband is a carpet installer. When he gets a stain on carpet, he uses a product called OOPs. You squirt it on and just dab it off till the stain's gone. It works on almost anything, but I can't be sure about the polish. Also, if the stain isn't all the way at the base of the carpet you could lay some scissors flat and try to trim the worst of it off.
